The star of a new three-part television series, 'Supernanny', has been hailed as a 'modern day Mary Poppins'. Jo Frost is 34 and has had 16 years' experience of nannying. In the series she is drafted into the homes of three different families to turn around the behaviour of wilful children and change the family's childrearing habits.

Single mother don't want to work

Up to half of all single mothers do not want to work and will not take jobs, according to a study by the Department of Work and Pensions. It said that Labour will never achieve its goal of persuading large numbers of lone parents to find jobs, because many had made a firm decision not to work. Stanmore College childcare students

Childcare students from Stanmore College in north-west London celebrated their success at an awards evening when they were presented with their certificates by CACHE chief executive Richard Dorrance. More than 250 students completed childcare courses in areas including pre-school practice, childminding and working with those who have special needs. The Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership provided funding for the majority of the courses. Early years and childcare manager Wendy Beeton said, 'We are delighted to hear of the 100 per cent pass rate in childcare courses at Stanmore College. It is wonderful to see so many successful students.'
