See what nurseries across the country have been up to.

PLAYING A KEY PART FOR CHILDREN IN NEED

Early years settings across the country held events to raise money for BBC's Children in Need on 16 October.

Children at Treehouse Nursery School in East London, Ringwood Day Nursery in Hampshire (top) and Little Acorns Nursery in Gomersal, West Yorkshire (bottom), organised bake sales.

Children from Bright Kids Nursery in Studley, Warwickshire (top), Home Farm Day Nursery in Swanbourne, Milton Keynes (middle) and Rainbow Playgroup in Acomb, York came to nursery dressed in their pyjamas.

Little Acorns Nursery Stanlaw in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire (top), Care 4 Kids in Blackburn (second), The Orchard Children's Nursery in Farnborough (bottom) and Alderholt Sunbeams Pre-school and Day Nursery, both in Hampshire, held a spotty day.

Children at Footsteps Day Nursery in Tamworth, Staffordshire (top) and Barnaby's Day Nursery in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire (middle), got messy with jelly, while Nursery on the Green and Pre-School in Frimley Green, Surrey held fundraising events over the course of a week.

RINGING ENDORSEMENT

Third Door in Putney welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg (centre, above) to the setting. After delivering a keynote speech on flexible parental leave, Mr Clegg took time to meet children and staff.

He praised Third Door, which he said was a 'brilliantly simple concept' that took 'two truly inspirational people to think up'.

He went on to say, 'Third Door gives people flexibility and choice so they can combine a fulfilling career with one of the most rewarding jobs there is - being a parent.'

IDEAS WANTED

Early years practitioners are being called upon for ideas for resources and suggestions to help women in Swaziland teach children in their community who cannot afford to go to school. They have few or no resources at all.

The women teaching the children have had very little education, and many of the children have been orphaned due to HIV and Aids.

Readers should send their ideas or resources to Sonto by email sontoginindza@rocketmail.com.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

Fledglings Day Nursery in Worsley, Greater Manchester, and The Firs Day Nursery in Burton-on-Trent marked Remembrance Day. The nursery class at Fledglings Day Nursery (top) took part in a 1918- and 1945-themed tribute day to remember all the fallen soldiers, while children at The Firs Day Nursery (bottom) visited the National Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire.
