HIGH HOPES

Monday, February 4, 2019

Busy Bees Childcare’s head of external affairs, Karen Mackay, and deputy chief academic officer, Yvonne Smillie, will climb to Mount Everest base camp in April as part of a campaign to raise money for Child Bereavement UK.

The 5,000-metre climb, which is the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis ten times, will take 12 days and nights to complete. The challenge will see the pair face tough conditions including 60 per cent less oxygen than at sea level and potential sub-zero temperatures.
