Name: Caroline WardPosition: Head teacher of Little Oaks Community Nursery

How did you feel about receiving the MBE?

I was overwhelmed. The honour came as a complete surprise. I felt humbled, very privileged and honoured.

Why do you think you were nominated?

I have found this question hard to answer so I will use a quote from a member of the nomination team. Mrs Mason said, 'We nominated her because everyone has been touched by her in a positive way. She goes that extra mile for everyone and she isn't just head of the nursery, she is so important to the community.'

Aside from the MBE, what else has been the highlight of your career?

I have been lucky enough to have had many special highlights in my teaching career. In my early teaching years, particularly hockey and basketball team achievements, when head of girls PE at the Leon Comprehensive, are very special memories to me. In my time at Little Oaks our 20-year celebration was a very special highlight with so many past and present pupils and their families attending.
