SPPA releases election manifesto
Tuesday, February 22, 2011
The Scottish Pre-School Play Association has launched 'Enriching Children's Lives, a Manifesto for the Early Years' in the run-up to the Scottish parliamentary elections calling for more investment in services.
It says that cuts to funding make the future of voluntary early years services uncertain. 'The greater the investment in services for children from before birth until five, the greater the return in social capital,' chief executive Ian McLaughlan said.
'Playgroups and toddler groups, with their capacity to nurture and foster involvement in community activity could disappear, much to the detriment of communities and society as a whole.' To read the manifesto, visit www.sppa.org.uk
