Spotlight on ... Liz McLean

Name: Liz McLean

Position: Childbase area manager

What was it like running in the New York marathon?

It was absolutely amazing. We started at Staten Island and finished at Central Park. There were around 2.5 million spectators - they gave out home-made cookies and hot drinks, and their encouraging words and banners really helped spur me on. The cost of the trip and entry fees was paid by Childbase.

Who else took part in the marathon?

It was me, Michelle Robertson and Jeannette Bacchus from Woodberry Day Nursery in London, Penny Toomey and Sian Mills from Knowle Green Day Nursery in Middlesex, and Christine Walters and Kelly Nurse from Highbury Lodge Day Nursery in Hertfordshire (pictured, left to right).

How much money did you raise?

We have raised more than £6,000, with donations still coming in. All the money is being given to the nursery chain's nominated charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital.
