Name: Laura Dabreo

Position: Childminder from Wokingham, Berkshire

- Why did you decide to go for EYP Status?

I wanted to better myself and show that childminders as well as nurserystaff can do it too. I took the long path at Reading University andcompleted the work over weekends and evenings as well as working a55-hour week as a childminder.

- How did you find doing the course?

It was hard work but really enjoyable. It gave me an opportunity toreflect on my practice and the children I look after and the parentshave seen the benefits from me doing the EYPS.

- What are your future plans?

In September I will be mentoring new students who are taking the longpathway EYPS course at Reading. I decided I would like to help others,as my mentor had not done the EYPS and could only give me informationabout early years practice. I will be looking after and supporting fivestudents, visiting them at their setting one day a week as well ascontinuing my work as a childminder.
