Name: Carrie Million

Position: Support worker at East Durham College in County Durham

- Why did you decide to hold baby signing classes?

I did a course in sign language while training to be a teachingassistant at college and also used baby signing with my own daughter. Anopportunity came up to buy a licence to run Signing Tots in my area andI thought, what better job than sitting with kids and signing allday.

- When will the classes start?

I will start the sessions in January at the local Sure Start children'scentres. There's been a lot of interest so far. We will start off with asix-week beginners' course and then move on to level two, learning signsfor bed, milk, nursery rhymes and family signs.

- What are your plans for the future?

I hope to hold a weekly 'sing and sign' drop-in session at Sure Startalongside the baby sign classes. One of my colleagues is thinking aboutdeveloping a DVD I will also have a chance to be involved in.
