Safety first

Reader Sarah Barrett, who has been a head teacher and nursery operator, has warned us about the second answer in our 'Safety First' quiz in the July issue of Professional Nanny. She says that if a baby has a fit continuing for more than four minutes you should call an ambulance because there is a risk of brain damage - don't just wait for the fit to resolve of its own accord. If you have a real disagreement with anything you read in the magazine, do get in touch and let us know. Bear in mind, though, that in many matters of good practice, for example in creative activities with children, much will depend on the age and maturity of the children in your care, on the particular circumstances, and on your professional judgement - as it always does in nannying!
