British is best

'She's more British than cricket, crumpets, Big Ben or the Beatles... She's the English nanny, and when it comes to raising children, there's nothing else quite like her.' From this introduction on, the never-ending appeal of ye olde English nanny is the main selling point of Nanny Wisdom, a new childcare book by two nannies published in the USA. Co-author Kim Nicholson actually grew up in Australia, but both she and English-born Justine Walsh have years of UK experience. What's perhaps more modern about the book's approach is that it comes with celebrity plug, in a foreword written by actor Richard Gere, who employs Justine, and an afterword by fashion photographer Pamela Hanson, Kim's boss.
