By Zainab Jagot Ahmed (Ebury Press, £14.99)

Written by a mother unable to find recipes for weaning which were not bland and repetitive, this book includes over 100 recipes along with meal plans and expert advice. It was the result of trawling through books and websites, and researching nutritional requirements, food groups and even the health benefits of herbs and spices. The idea is to provide a child with a variety of flavours so that they are able to enjoy a range of foods, and the move to eating with the whole family becomes a smooth transition.
