Spotlight on ... David Hancock, managing director of Treetops Nurseries

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Name: David Hancock

Position: Managing director of Treetops Nurseries

- Why did you decide to take part in the 2010 Artemis Great Kindrochit quadrathlon on 10 July?

Treetops' chairman Alan Proto came to me with the idea that we could raise money for impoverished children around the world through the charity Mercy Corps. At the time it seemed like a great idea to go up to Scotland, mess around in the waters of Loch Tay, wander around in the hills and enjoy a nice bike ride, but as the scale of the event dawned on me I realised that this was an event for serious athletes.

- What does the quadrathlon involve?

Swimming, running, kayaking and cycling. Sadly, I damaged my Achilles tendon while running and am unable to run or cycle, so will just take part in the six-mile kayak. This meant we had to draft in the help of our finance director Clare Wilson, our maintenance manager Sean Rogan and friend Sue Harris. Alan Proto will take part in the whole event.
