Thomas the Tank Engine

Children from all over Angus were delighted when Thomas the Tank Engine puffed into the Caledonian Railway last weekend, writes Joyce Reid. The famous locomotive left Brechin station every 75 minutes to pull trains along the four-mile track to Bridge of Dun. With the Fat Controller in charge children were also able to see devious Diesel shunting the Troublesome Trucks and to step inside the cab of Percy, the small engine. Caledonian Railway development officer Simon Hickman said, 'Our volunteers worked flat out to get extra carriages ready to cope with demand and we ordered extra coal supplies to make sure we didn't run out of fuel for the engines.'
