The London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) is piloting a new initiative offering SEND children more hours of early education and more staff support to give them a stronger start.

With funding from the Westminster Foundation, LEYF is providing an expanded SEND offer to 12 children across four of its nurseries. These include children with autism and with communication and language challenges, identified by nursery staff as requiring additional support.

The universal 15 hours of early education entitlement has been topped up, enabling these three- and four-year-olds to attend daily from 9am to 3pm, during term time — with lunch included. The expanded offer is free, with no charges for food or snacks. Additional staffing in each nursery allows for one-to-one and tailored support.
