Changes to early years apprenticeship funding

We are now beginning to see the new Government’s strategy for skills and apprenticeships with the announcement of new rules, new priorities and funding withdrawn from some higher level qualifications.

Level 7 Apprenticeships

The Department for Education is trying to return apprenticeships and the apprenticeship budget to support young people entering the workforce and move funding away from master’s-level qualifications for those already established in their careers.

That’s why the Government’s recent decision to withdraw funding for Level 7 apprenticeships for those people aged 22 or over from January 2026 is not only pragmatic but safeguards funding for Early Years Apprenticeships for the next five years.
