Autistic children respond best to Thomas the Tank Engine

(Photograph) - Children with autistic spectrum disorders respond more strongly to Thomas the Tank Engine than other children's characters, according to a study by the National Autistic Society. It said autistic children found Thomas to be a point of entry to the world of communication and learning, motivating them to look through books, try computer games and use other exploratory skills.
