Position: Training manager at Smart Training
- What does your role involve?
I meet with and provide support to 90 learners across the Kingston areaworking in nurseries studying for an NVQ qualification. My role at Smartis unique as we provide learners with a lot of ongoing support,constantly tracking their progress. Initially we carry out an assessmentwith each new learner in order to draw up an individual learning plan. Imeet with each learner quarterly and provide them with numeracy andliteracy support, key skills and practice tests and ensure they have amentor in place.
- What attracted you to becoming a training manager?
I worked as a college-based training manager before joining Smart. Iwanted to work in education and considered becoming a teacher until Iwas offered a position as a training manager. There is so much varietyin this job and every day is different.
- What do you hope to achieve in the future?
