Schools in Northern Ireland are to receive an extra 21.4m

Schools in Northern Ireland are to receive an extra 21.4m on top of their delegated budgets in 2002/03, the Government announced last week. The 1m increase on last year's allocation means that schools will receive an additional 58 per pupil. Funding allocations will be based on the enrolment at each school, with those in the nursery and primary sector guaranteed a minimum allocation of 5,780 and a maximum of 21,555. Education minister Martin McGuinness MP MLA said, 'I know from my visits to schools during the year that these additional resources will be warmly welcomed by schools.'
