People and places a monthly round-up

* The Montessori School and its sister nursery The Children's House in Stallingborough, North East Lincolnshire, have received an 8,000 grant from Arts Council England. They will work with local textile artist, Wendy Chan, on a three-month programme entitled Fabric of Life. * First Steps Day Nursery at Chichester College, West Sussex has gained an Investors in Children award.

* Eureka! children's museum in Halifax, West Yorkshire, is holding a Maze of Illusions open-air exhibition from 23 July for children aged three to 12. There are also 'Let's Get Mucky' themed garden days for under-fives with special guest Gordon the Garden Gnome. Visit www.eureka.org.uk.

* The Lawns Early Excellence Centre in Bedfordshire has received a Pounds 10,000 grant from national organisation Youth Music. A music specialist, Linda Bance, organised a 'music week', from 4-8 July, which included performances from children, staff and local music students.
