* Angela Pugh, a Pre-school Learning Alliance development worker for Bromley, has won an award from Bromley EYDCP for her 'outstanding contribution to early years education and childcare services in Bromley'.

* Rachel Whittlestone has joined the National Children's Bureau as training development manager. She previously managed a training and development programme for library staff and managers in Birmingham.

* Carol Jenkins has been appointed managing director for Places for Children, the childcare arm of the Places for People Group. She was previously the group general manager for childcare at Imagine Co-operative Childcare, part of the Oxford, Swindon and Gloucester Co-operative Society.

* Monkey Music, the pre-school music group based in Harpenden, has been shortlisted for Brand Builder of the Year in the Express Newspaper's Franchiser of the Year Awards. The winner will be announced at a gala lunch on 26 May.

* Apple Tree Nursery in Stoke Newington, London, raised 776.08 for the tsunami appeal with a sponsored walk to the local park.
