The work Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships (EYDCPs) do in England is irreplaceable and often escapes public notice. Our Hampshire EYDCP, for example, has had a wonderful impact on my childminding.

During the year childminders in the county have been swamped with quality training, information and support, and by the Partnership's management of funds through the Early Years Plan. The benefits include a training and development guide containing a huge array of quality training on the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) Framework. For the first time all practitioners have equal access to affordable and often free training.

We receive a quarterly Partnership newsletter updating us on the ever-changing face of childcare. The Partnership staged a roadshow around the county, developed the Children's Information Service, and provided a substantial grant enabling HCCA to communicate with childminders, childminding groups and parents.
