Over 300 nurseries,schools community groups in Scotland received funding from the Home Reading Initiative Small Grants Scheme

More than 300 nurseries,schools and community groups in Scotland have received funding from the Home Reading Initiative Small Grants Scheme to launch sustainable home projects. The recipients all applied for a share of 300,000 as part of the Scottish Executive's home reading initiative, Read Together! Projects include an English and Gaelic reading room for primary and playgroup children in the Western Isles, a storysacks project at Castlegait Nursery in the Scottish Borders, and a Freddy Frogs Read It Book Club at Greenhill Resource Centre in Falkirk for children and parents. The Scottish Executive will also be distributing a new interactive CD to nurseries and libraries, entitled 'Read Together! Open the door to reading with your child'.
