Only if it feels right

As a childminder who has been registered and working for the past nine years, I feel very strongly that we have to keep a sense of proportion about the number of 'bad' childminders working at the moment (News, 24 January). Parents need to act on their natural feelings if they are unhappy with their childminder.

I tell all the parents who come to me to go with their 'gut' feeling on whether or not they feel it is the right place for their child. Parents need to act on their natural feelings if they are unhappy with their childminder.

Parents should never leave their child with anyone they have doubts about, no matter how loosely based these doubts are. One family did, and now they live to regret it.
