- Childminders honour

The efforts of NCMA Nottinghamshire childminders were celebrated thismonth with award ceremonies in Mansfield and Nottingham. The awardsrecognise the childminders' commitment and dedication to meeting thechallenges of the Early Years Foundation Stage throughout the pastyear.

- Up in the air

As part of their autumn topic exploring leaves, children at Stone EdenNursery School in Carlisle, Cumbria, have been making good use of aparachute to collect leaves and then throw them up in the air.

- Healthy nippers

Staff and children at Little Nippers Nursery in Lancaster, Lancashire,have been learning about the importance of a healthy lifestyle throughthe nursery chain's Healthy Eating and Keeping Fit campaign. As part ofthe campaign children took part in taste testing and exercise sessionsand held a mini sports day. All the children received a medal for takingpart and those bringing in the healthiest lunchboxes were awardedcertificates.

- Walks and crafts

Staff and parents from The Nursery on the Green in Frimley Green,Surrey, accompanied children on a walk around Frimley Lodge Park thismonth as part of their learning about the different seasons. Thechildren collected acorns, conkers and leaves, which they took back tothe nursery for autumn craft activities.

- Family Tree

Playdays Daycare Nursery in Blackrod, Bolton, received a 'thank you'present to remember from one of the children who has left to go toschool after attending the setting since she was a baby. Kelsey and herfamily bought an apple tree to plant in the nursery garden to representhow Kelsey has grown and flourished being at the nursery.
