'Baby and Me' gives simple tips in Arabic, Sylheti and English and aims to help parents develop warm, nurturing and consistent relationships with their babies. It shows families from different cultural backgrounds talking and playing with their children.
Liz Lowton, a speech and language therapist and Yvonne Bailey-Smith, a family psychotherapist, both involved with Church Street SSLP in Westminster, London, said they realised from working with families in the area that there was a need for visual resources to support parenting skills and nothing available reflected the community they work in.
Ms Lowton said, 'Our experiences as practitioners are that sometimes parents are not aware of the different abilities of very young babies. Such lack of knowledge can lead to even less interaction where there is a child with special needs.
