Last summer, Michelle, now aged five, visited her father's birthplace, Kumasi in Ghana, with her parents Georgina and Kwaku and older brother and sister, Emmanuel and Edna. Back home in South London, she often asks to hear about Kwaku's childhood and the Anansi stories - the traditional Ghanaian tales about a spider.
Kwaku takes the children to school, likes to support school events and is nearing the end of his four years as a parent governor. He feels strongly about fathers being actively involved with their children's education, and Michelle enjoys her father's involvement both at school and at home.
