Education secretary Michael Gove has announced plans to scrap the General Teaching Council for England.
Mr Gove told MPs last week that he was 'deeply sceptical' about the purpose of the GTC and said it 'does little to raise teaching standards or professionalism.' He must now seek Parliamentary approval for the plans.
