Dominic Head, with foster father Ron Head, receives his 2004 Woman's Own Children of Courage Award

(Photograph) - Five-year-old Dominic Head, with foster father Ron Head, receives his 2004 Woman's Own Children of Courage Award in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 15 December. Dominic was born with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome acquired from his mother, which gave him a heart condition, facial and limb deformities and feeding problems. Earlier this year he underwent a pioneering operation to transplant tendon tissue from his thigh into his eyelids and he can now open his eyes normally. Photo Michael Mella
