Class divide affects children's attainment

Child Development
Children's progress in their first two years at school is still largely driven by their parents' social class, according to researchers from the Institute of Education, University of London, who analysed more than 11,000 seven-year-olds across the UK.
They found that children of parents in professional or managerial jobs were at least eight months ahead of pupils from the most socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
