'Can any mother help me?'

(Photograph) - 'Can any mother help me?' was a lonely reader's simple plea in a 1935 issue of Nursery World and it's now the title of a book published this month. Author Jenna Bailey (centre, green dress) joined a reunion of members and families of the Co-operative Correspondence Club, which the reader's letter inspired. The club lasted for more than 50 years and founder member Rose Hacker (centre), now aged 102, was among those at the book launch. See the feature on page 20. Photo courtesy of Camden New Journal
