'Billy the Bollard'

(Photograph) - Sister and brother Georgia and Jack Walker from Southwold primary school in Nottingham meet 'Billy the Bollard', one of six metal barriers designed by Nottingham city council and installed outside the school. The 250 bollards, which look like a child waiting to cross the road, warn drivers that children are nearby and prompt them to slow down. Francis Ashton, leader of the council's accident and investigation unit, was inspired to add them after seeing penguin-shaped bollards on a seafront. Photo: Peter Corns
