Children's interests and developmental needs, in particular schemas, were key starting points for planning continuous provision within the toddler room created by the Warwickshire team.

A top priority was to provide a range of sensory experiences that would support individual schemas and encourage this age group to:
- explore
- discover
- talk, and
- make connections to life experiences.
The areas within the room offered children opportunities to:
1, 2. explore a wide range of tactile materials, including paint
3. engage in block play
4. become familiar with books
5. role play on a simple level
6. engage in small-world play.
