Position: Nursery assistant at Little Griffins Nursery in Macclesfield, Cheshire
- How did you feel about winning Macclesfield College's Learner of the Year award?
I was very shocked to win. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. There were 40 nominees but just 14 awards.
- Who nominated you for the award?
My assessor, Linda Warren, nominated me for my dedication to achieving my NVQ level 2 while holding down three jobs. Some days it was really stressful juggling everything, but I didn't give up. I couldn't have done it without the support of staff from the nursery.
- What's your next step?
After making the move from a cleaner at the nursery to nursery nurse, I want to further my qualifications and do my NVQ Level 3. However, I need to take my GCSE maths and English first.
