Position: Nursery assistant at Kids Allowed in Knutsford, Cheshire
- How do you feel about being named a finalist in the National Day Nursery Association's awards for Nursery Practitioner of the Year?
It's great. I didn't have a clue that I had been nominated. I didn't even know that awards like these existed until I received a phone call from the NDNA telling me I was a finalist. I thought it was a wind-up to begin with, being the only man at the nursery.
- Who nominated you for the award?
Parents nominated me for the award, as their children are always talking about me and often follow me around the classroom. I get on really well with the parents and try to be honest with them about their child's day.
- Are you looking forward to the awards ceremony?
I've been counting down the days until the ceremony. I'll be gutted if I don't win. I've only worked at the nursery for 12 months but have always wanted to work with children.
