Nursery World is to have a new editor later this month as Karen Faux moves from Early Years Educator to take on the role that Liz Roberts leaves after more than two decades.

Liz will be staying with Nursery World, however, in a part-time role as editor-in-chief across the brand’s print magazine, website, social media and events.

Karen, who has been editor of EYE for two-and-a-half years, has previously worked on the Nursery World team in several positions including section editor and deputy features editor, and is currently associate editor of the title, handling special projects. Her extensive knowledge of both the early years sector and Nursery World will benefit the title greatly.

Liz and Karen take up their new roles on 26 April.

The moves come at the same time as other changes for Nursery World, with deputy editor Ruth Thomson retiring last month after more than 20 years. Former section editor Hannah Crown has moved up to the new position of features editor, working across practice and management content.

New editor of EYE will be Angelica Celinska., who is currently early years editor at resources company TTS, having previously worked as an early years practitioner and been awarded an MA in early years education.

Ravi Chandiramani, managing director at MA Education, which publishes both Nursery World and EYE, said, ‘We are delighted to be welcoming Karen Faux to the editorship of Nursery World given her considerable early years knowledge and journalistic skills.

‘After nearly 24 years in the editor’s “hot seat”, Liz Roberts will retain a crucial role supporting the title’s endeavours to both reflect and champion the sector across all channels and platforms.

‘We are equally pleased to have secured the talents of Angelica Celinska to take up the editorship of EYE in these critical times for the sector.’

Liz Roberts said, ‘From nursery vouchers to lockdown heroics, it has been a huge privilege to be editor of Nursery World, supporting the early years sector, and this will still be a priority in my new role. I know that Karen will do an excellent job as editor as we all prepare to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.’
