As a special needs, fully qualified nursery nurse with over 30 years' experience and at the top of my pay scale, I earn 16,203 in the north-east of England.

Now, as a result of job evaluation and single status, I am about to lose around £2,500 from my salary. No-one is interested in my experience or qualifications. Roll on the long-awaited national pay scale, when hopefully we hard-working practitioners will be paid fairly. We constantly hear the Government saying how it values a highly skilled workforce, but are they prepared to pay for what they already have?

Judy, have you thought about becoming a college lecturer and helping people with all your experience to become nursery nurses themselves? Local FE colleges will offer more money for such a wealth of experience (much more in some cases).
