‘Give parents confidence in their choice’

Michele Davison, owner and manager of Angels on The Park Nursery in Hackney, London, highlights five, key practical strategies for promoting nurseries effectively to new parents
'Satisfied parents are your greatest advocates.'

In my experience, the most successful nurseries are those that showcase their unique qualities and build trust with parents. A great nursery isn’t just a place for children to spend their days, it’s a hub of creativity, learning, and care that gives parents confidence in their choice. The following strategies will help nurseries make a lasting impression and create meaningful connections with prospective families.

As a Nursery Manager and mum of three, I know how crucial it is to find the right nursery for your child. A great nursery doesn’t just keep children safe; it inspires their curiosity, builds their confidence, and helps them make friends, all in a warm, nurturing environment.

Whether in your nursery it’s a highly qualified team, a sensory room, or a strong outdoor learning program, these features should be highlighted in your marketing materials, website, and social media. Parents are drawn to settings that demonstrate innovation and a commitment to child development.

A professional and engaging online presence is essential. One way we do this is by  our website updated with clear information about our services, policies, and fees. We use social media to share updates, events, and stories from our nursery, giving parents a glimpse into daily life.

Satisfied parents are your greatest advocates. We encourage them to share their experiences by leaving online reviews or recommending our nursery to friends because word of mouth can also be a valuable way to attract new parents.

It is also really important to organise open days or tours where parents can experience the atmosphere of your nursery firsthand. Ensure your staff are welcoming, the environment is clean and engaging, and activities are planned to showcase the children’s learning and creativity.

Finally, working with the local community is hugely important. My recommendation is to collaborate with local businesses, attend community events, and offer free workshops or sessions for parents. Establishing a strong presence in the local community helps build trust and ensures your nursery is at the top of parents' minds when they are making the decision for their child.
