Today many dairy farmers are being paid less for milk than it costs them to produce it. Meanwhile, research has shown that one protein in milk produced by high-production cows such as Fresians has been linked with increased incidence of heart disease, diabetes and autism. Sheila Dillon looks at problems in the dairy industry.

The Coronation - Kings and Queens (BBC Radio 4, 4.30 to 5pm)

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Julian Glover, Isla Blair and Stefan Bednarczyk star in a performance of, and a feature about, the classic anthology 'Kings and Queens' by Eleanor and Herbert Farjeon, which was first published in 1932 and has been treasured by adults and children ever since.

The white sliced loaf is consumed by millions but has long been condemned in expert food circles as bland and less nutritional than the bread favoured by other nations. Christopher Bowlby explores the roots of the 20th-century fascination with rectangular convenience that sees any brilliant new thought dubbed 'the best thing since sliced bread'.

Boo! (BBC 2, 9.30 to 9.40am)

In this new animated series from the makers of the Tweenies, Boo and his friends Laughing Duck, Sleeping Bear and Growling Tiger take young viewers on a special adventure each week - in this programme back to the land of the dinosaurs. While Boo runs off to play hide and seek, children are introduced to a new location with words, sounds, colours, numbers and meanings. When he is found, Boo demonstrates new skills with the help of his friends and finishes the show with a song.

How Clean is Your House? (Channel 4, 8.30 to 9pm)

Tapping into the nation's fascination with dirt, disorganisation and domestic chaos, housekeeper Kim Woodburn and presenter Aggie MacKenzie reveal what our dirty habits say about us. This programme looks at the two-bedroom Housing Association flat in Newcastle lived in by father and son David and Nick Worboys. David reckons the last time the flat had a decent clean was some six years ago.
