The future of adoption and fostering legislation

Childcare professionals have been invited to contribute their views on the future of adoption and fostering legislation. The Scottish Executive paper Choices for Children in Fostering and Adoption identifies some of the key questions for the Adoption Policy Review Group. The group is able to recommend changes in law so practice can be brought up to date and, where appropriate, simplified. Review group chairman Graham Cox said the paper looks at ways the adoption process could be speeded up so that children found permanent homes more quickly. It is on the website www.scotland.gov.uk. Parents of children with Three quarters of nurseries have effectively built the Children's Traffic Club in Scotland's Nursery and Playgroup Pack into a wide range of activities and used it to complement and reinforce them. An evaluation of the effectiveness of road safety promotion found that most of the nurseries were now using the pack, which has had a significant effect in raising or reinforcing awareness of the Traffic Club among nurseries, playgroups and parents.
