The first four chapters introduce the traditions of birthdays throughout the ages and around the world (though mostly in Europe). In Norway, for instance, families fly a flag from a window when they are celebrating a birthday. In Lithuania, a child is hoisted into the air on an elaborately decorated chair. This book could help practitioners seeking ways to contribute to birthday celebrations of children of different origins.
