Survey seeks sector views on the twos scheme

Early years practitioners are invited to have their say on the disadvantaged two-year-old programme via TACTYC’s new online survey.

Launched last week, the ‘Workforce and Quality for two-year-olds’ online survey seeks to find out who is working with two-year-olds, what are their qualifications and experience, how well prepared they feel to meet the needs of this age group and their families, and what additional support is needed. It also looks at the sector's views on the priorities for quality and how this can best be achieved.

The survey is open from Friday 13 June - Friday 11 July and open to nursery managers, leaders and practitioners.

It has been launched as part of a larger study being carried out by the Universities of Plymouth and Oxford on behalf of TACTYC, the association for professional development of early years educators, which aims to identify some of the key issues with the two-year-old early education programme, to inform its expansion in September.

There are several different elements to the study. They include:

  • a review of research literature and policy documents;
  • interviews/focus groups with key stakeholders such as policy makers, local authorities, sector organisations, managers and practitioners;
  • observations of practice in settings catering for two-year-olds.

Findings will be published on TACTYC's website on 1 November, the day of the association’s annual conference.
