The organisation will work with 20 Play Pathfinder and 43 Playbuilderlocal authorities that have been allocated funding to develop 30adventure playgrounds and up to 3,500 play areas for children from eightto 13 years old.
Play England's director Adrian Voce said, 'This funding and the widernational play strategy should see play become central to children'sservices and local planning frameworks for years to come. This newcontract confirms both the importance of a national support body forthat process, and how far Play England has come.'
One of Play England's first tasks will be to produce guidance on designprinciples for outdoor play areas and to revise its Planning for Playguidance.
