Position: Retired nursery teacher, Newtown Nursery School and Early Years Centre, Colne
What are your fondest memories of working at the nursery over 28 years?
I've seen so many generations come through. I will always remember the parents. When I'm out shopping in Colne, some of the children I taught 28 years ago remember me and say, 'Hello, Mrs Harrison'.
What will you miss the most?
Being among the children, listening to their little tales and observing them.
How has the nursery changed since you first started?
It's seen a lot of changes, even more so now with the new EYFS. But I think it's reverting to where it was 20-odd years ago. The outside area is a very important issue now at the foundation stage. There was another classroom outside and our children just went outside as soon as they came into school, if they wanted to. They had a big choice with everything and they absolutely loved it.
