Position: Owner and manager of Kiddy Kapers Daycare in Wigston, Leicestershire
Why do you think you were chosen as regional winner of the National Training Awards?
'I believe the judges chose me because of my personal commitment and dedication to the setting. Before I started working with children I had no qualifications. I hadn't studied since I was a child, but persevered and did my Level 3 in Childcare, Leadership and Management, followed by a foundation degree.'
Who nominated you for the award?
'It was one of my colleagues. Following that I had to fill in an application from and the judges came to observe me at the setting. At the final stage I was interviewed for two and a half hours and then shortlisted before being announced as the winner at the ceremony on 14 October.'
