- How did it feel to win the Training and Development Agency (TDA)Teaching Assistant of the Year Award in Wales?

My colleagues didn't tell me they were nominating me, so I only foundout when I was in the final three. The headteacher called us in and said'We've nominated someone'. The staff asked parents and former staff andpupils to write letters of support to TDA. I felt quite emotional thateveryone had gone to all that effort.

- What do you like about being a nursery nurse?

I've been a nursery nurse for 34 years, with 18 years in this school.I'd say the things children do and say makes every day different. I getrespect from the children because I give them respect. I also run agardening club after school, which is open to the juniors everyweek.

- What did people write in their letters of support?

The children often wrote down their memories and there were lots that Ididn't remember. For instance, one girl wrote that I made a step for herso she could reach the sink.
