sponsored cycle in aid of ChildLine Scotland

Children at playgroups and nurseries across Scotland are being urged to join a sponsored cycle in aid of ChildLine Scotland, the national helpline for children and young people. Pedal Push 2003 will involve children cycling as many laps as they can around a course at their local nursery school or playgroup. More than 560 children call ChildLine Scotland each day but a lack of funds means that only 270 of them get through to a trained volunteer counsellor for comfort, advice and protection. The charity relies on donations from the public and business for 90 per cent of the funds it needs to raise each year. ChildLine chair Esther Rantzen said that Pounds 200,000 was raised through last year's pedal push. 'Every penny raised through Pedal Push 2003 will help ChildLine to change even more children's lives,' she said. For details of Pedal Push 2003 contact Childline Scotland on 0141 552 1123.
