Six blind men and the elephant

One day six blind men were talking together in the square in the centre of a small village in India. They heard a large animal enter the square and wondered what it could be. Of course, as they were blind they could not see the animal, so they decided to feel it and in that way they would learn what kind of an animal it was. The first man felt the side and said, 'This is a very large and wonderful animal. It feels just like a wall.'

The first man felt the side and said, 'This is a very large and wonderful animal. It feels just like a wall.'

The second man felt one of the legs and said, 'This is an enormous animal.

The third man took hold of the tail and said, 'No, no. This animal is like a rope!'

Next was the turn of the fourth man who felt the trunk and said, 'Oh, no.

This animal is like an enormous snake.'

The fifth man took hold of a tusk and said, 'To me this amazing creature is like a spear.'
