Sector urges PM to use the Spending Review to invest in early years

Early years charities, organisations and providers have come together to urge the Government to seize the opportunity at the Spending Review next week to invest in early years services and social security.

An open letter to the Prime Minister from the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) signed by more than 70 charities, organisations and nursery groups including Tops Day Nurseries, says to succeed in increasing the number of children reaching a good level of development under the Plan for Change, the Government must contribute ‘substantial and sustained’ investment in early years and family support in the Spending Review on 11 June.

It states, ‘The Plan for Change stated you would prioritise spending decisions that would contribute to this milestone. Now we must see substantial, sustained investment in early years and family support if we are to deliver it.
