Scotland's Little Einstein nursery group keeps growing

Glasgow-based nursery group Little Einstein's is set to open its seventh nursery in the first week of September. The fast-growing group, one of the largest independent nursery chains in Scotland, was set up three years ago.

It also has two other nurseries in Glasgow, two in Dundee and one each in Perth and Arbroath.

The new-build Nithsdale House nursery, in the Pollokshields area of the city, will offer 66 places and employ up to 20 members of staff. It has been built in the grounds of Nithsdale Lodge nursing home, which is also owned by the nursery group's managing director and founder Deepak Poddar.

He said that there would definitely be scope to develop links between the nursery children and the nursing home residents. 'We're forming a community within a community. It reminds older people of their grandchildren.'

The new opening means the nursery chain now offers more than 550 childcare places and employs around 200 staff.
