I was upset and angry after reading the news story about Lisa Potts (15 February), for I believe she should have been awarded a lot more for her loss and bravery. I have worked in childcare for nine years and it still amazes me how people dismiss the career we have chosen and the low pay, for at the end of the day we are looking after the country's future generation and a parent's most precious possession, their children.

I believe we deserve more recognition for what we do and that Lisa's case just highlights it. I do hope she appeals and finally receives recognition for what she has done and lost.
